Ikebana

The weather has cooled down some, so I arranged some flowers for the first time in a while.

Flowers have a healing effect.

Maki and Celosia

The vase is a work by modern Tobe ware master of Hachizui kiln, Yasuhiko Shiragata.

I think the contrast between the sharp lines of the upper edge when viewed from the side and the soft, rounded body is both simple and beautiful.

In other news, I received a call from my mother’s facility this evening.

They told me she was complaining of pain around the rib she fractured in May and had a fever of 37.1℃.

When I visited her, my heart sank as I saw her lying in bed, her eyes lacking energy.

After spending about an hour with her chatting and keeping her company, she gradually sat up, stood, and regained the sparkle in her eyes.

I told her “You have to stay healthy so you can visit our house to see our dog, see the family, and help out, so please stay healthy,” and we high-fived.

As I was leaving, she said “I have to see you off,” stood up, and walked with me to the lounge.

Her fever had gone down to 36.6℃.

Family love is truly the power to live.

I would like to see my mother’s smile forever.
