At our gallery, tea cups with saucers and cup & saucer sets by Shiragata sensei are the most popular items.
The workshop was very busy with the production of zodiac figurines. Every year, customers praise the refined quality of Hachizui Kiln’s zodiac pieces.
This workshop was also used as the filming location for the 2021 movie “A Shape of the Future,” in which Shiragata sensei provided technical guidance to the actors. I was shown some photos from that time.
Tobe ware originally used processed stone powder from grindstones. I also heard about the history of Tobe ware and the properties of the stones used.
While browsing the workshop, I found a beautiful bowl. It was painted by Shiragata sensei’s wife. Since it was a sample and not for sale, I asked if they could make another one for us.
